My top five favourite restaurants in Las Vegas

My top five restaurants where you can eat a tasty and healthy meal for a reasonable price.

When I am in Las Vegas I usually stay for 3 to 5 weeks and I eat in a restaurant at least two times a day, breakfast and diner. Although I enjoy fancy restaurants once in a while it is too expensive to eat at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant every day. Therefore I am always looking for good low budget restaurants.

The restaurants I have chosen provide a good value dining experience, with tasty and healthy food, friendly service and a clean and practical setting. Most importantly these are restaurants where everybody is welcome and you don’t need a reservation.

Poker Nomad Travel Tip: "If you are in an unfamiliar town, ask the locals where they like to eat. Thats how I found out about a couple of my favourite restaurants."

I don’t favour any of these five restaurants above the other, so the order is random. They are just my five favourite restaurants who provide five different kinds of foods.

Burger bar, burgers and beer

This is America so burgers have to be on the menu. Of course you can buy a burger in almost any restaurant in America. But if you want to eat a healthy and tasty burger, you go to the Burger Bar. The Burger Bar is located in the shopping mall area between Mandalay Bay and Luxor. They provide you with the ultimate build your own burger experience. You can choose between 6 types of red meat or choose chicken, salmon, turkey or vegetarian.
Then you choose your bun and toppings. There are almost 50 toppings you can choose from. They have a burger for everyone. Even if you are a vegetarian who only eats gluten free you can create a real tasty burger for yourself. For the not so creative types there are also 10 chef’s burgers you can choose from. And for the sides you can have fries, salads and even macaroni & cheese.
Besides a wide variety in burgers the Burger Bar also has a wide choose of milkshakes and beers.
So whatever your taste there is always something you like to eat and drink at the Burger Bar.

  Coco's

Cocos' family diner, breakfast, lunch and diner

I usually eat at least once a day at Coco’s for breakfast. There omelettes & scrambles are delicious and the staff is real friendly. They look like a simple all American diner, but the food is very good and healthy. They use only fresh ingredients of the highest quality and the dishes contain lots of vegetables. They even have a special gluten free menu. Besides breakfast they also provide very good lunch and diner alternatives. You should really check out there very big menu. If you have something to celebrate Coco’s is the place to be. They are not only a restaurant, but also a bakery with the best pies in the world. Last but not least, Coco’s is open 24/7 for breakfast, lunch or diner. Whatever you need whenever you need it. You can find Coco’s at 169 East Tropicana Avenue, across from the MGM.

Ellis Island, BBQ ribs

Ellis Island is a casino one block from the strip where the locals like to play and eat. They brew there own beer and they have the best BBQ in Las Vegas. They cook there barbecue low and slow, producing the most succulent meat you have ever tasted. I can especially recommend the ribs. If you like meat and beer, this is the place to be. Make sure you are on time though, the BBQ closes at 10PM. If you want some entertainment after diner, Ellis Island has a karaoke bar thats open each day from 9pm. They are located on 4178 Koval Lane, one block behind Bally’s & Paris.

  Kabuki

Kabuki, Japanese sushi

This is the best sushi place in Las Vegas that most tourists will never find. It is located on Town Square, an outside shopping and dining center on the South end of the strip, past the airport and past all the big casino’s. Thats why most locals like it there. You can walk outside without being bothered by all the tourists, promoters, whistles, bells and lights that are common on the Las Vegas strip. Another good thing is that the prices are much lower then in the sushi restaurants that are located in the big casino’s. They are not just a sushi restaurant but offer all kinds of Japanese foods. There dishes are real works of art, they look almost to good to eat. If you like sushi and you like to have a relaxing day away from the busy strip, visit Kabuki at Town Square.

Martorano's, classic Italian

For all you Italian food lovers I can recommend Martorano’s. At Martorano’s they makes real classic family style Italian dishes. The restaurant is located inside the Rio so if you are playing the WSOP I recommend you use your food ticket to eat here. I love the spaghetti & meatball. The atmosphere is lively with a DJ playing hip-hop, dance and R&B music and old Hollywood movie clips playing on big HD tv-screens.

Of course there are many more restaurants in Las Vegas to choose from. Please let me know what your favourite restaurants in Las Vegas are in the comments below. And if you have eaten in any of my favourite restaurants, let me know how it was.
